Coffee County committee approves $50,000 donations to Tullahoma and Manchester for sports fields

Mayor Hunt presented a request from Tullahoma City Administrator Jeff Damron and recommended that Coffee County donate $50,000 each to Tullahoma and to Manchester to add a new field and upgrade existing fields at local sports complexes.
Mayor Hunt said the tournaments hosted by Tullahoma bring business to the community and suggested using Tourism funds for the improvements so the donations would not affect county General Fund requirements. Commissioner Stubblefield moved to make the $50,000 donations to both Tullahoma and Manchester; Commissioner Hershman seconded the motion and it carried.
The minutes record the donations as to be taken from Tourism money, with no indication they will reduce General Fund appropriations. The motion carried and the funds were approved at the committee level for presentation or execution per county procedures.
