Coffee County committee accepts changes that narrow 2027 general fund deficit to $1.31 million

Ms. Mariana Edinger presented updated figures from the Property Assessor’s office and several possible budget adjustments that, if adopted, would lower the projected 2027 deficit to $1,314,922. Commissioner Stubblefield moved to accept the changes for presentation to the full commission; Commissioner Hershman seconded and the motion passed.
The presentation included a revision submitted by Elissa Fletcher, Property Assessor, that updated property tax rates and revenue projections to inform the county’s estimates. Sheriff Partin also addressed the committee during public comment, providing additional information related to his proposed 2027 budget.
After passage of the worksheet changes, Commissioner Brown moved to reconsider the vote; Commissioner Malone seconded that motion, and it failed, leaving the committee’s approval intact. Committee members discussed the amount proposed for pay raises during deliberations but did not record a final decision on raises at this meeting.
The committee directed that the accepted worksheet and accompanying materials be presented to the full commission at its next meeting for further consideration. The meeting adjourned after routine procedural items; minutes were later approved on June 11, 2026.
