Members of the select board raised recurring questions about the sewer district’s transparency and recordkeeping during the May 19 meeting. Town staff presented trustee expiration dates and recent minutes; several board members said they had trouble finding 2026 minutes on the district’s site and reported residents who cannot obtain clear answers about rates or charges.
Select board members agreed to invite the sewer district trustees to a joint meeting and said the trustees should come with a quorum (at least three members) and be prepared to answer public questions. Several select board members also said they preferred to hold off on reappointing trustees until the joint meeting provides clarity.
Board members discussed televising or recording any joint session to increase public transparency and agreed staff should coordinate dates and ask trustee chairs to bring requested documents to the next select board meeting.
