Audubon County board approves FY27 insurance renewal and $44,303.82 in claims; sets budget certification timeline

At its March 31 meeting the Audubon County Board of Supervisors approved several finance items and reviewed the FY27 budget timeline.
Auditor’s Office staff member Lisa Frederiksen reviewed the county’s schedule for finalizing the FY27 budget, telling supervisors that April 30, 2026 is the last possible day to certify the FY27 budget. Frederiksen said that once the budget is certified, budgets may still be cut but new items may not be added. Supervisors indicated they plan to review a few department budgets before certification.
The board approved FY27 insurance renewal documents with Assured Partners after Frederiksen and Chairman Kent Grabill reviewed updated totals. The renewal was approved by motion (moved by Supervisor Heath Hansen; seconded by Supervisor Don Mosinski) and recorded as unanimously approved.
The board also approved claims submitted by various departments for payment totaling $44,303.82 and directed that those claims be published in a separate month-end publication; that motion was recorded as unanimous. The minutes do not list individual claim line items.
The ACED agreement was discussed briefly; Attorney Swensen was unavailable and Supervisor Don Mosinski said he had spoken with Sara Slater and that the agreement was under review. Mosinski said he plans to bring forward a proposed FY26 ACED allocation budget amendment after the final agreement is complete. The minutes do not record a vote or dollar amount for any ACED allocation; details remain pending.
Supervisor Heath Hansen left the meeting at 10:09 a.m. The board approved meeting minutes from March 24 (regular and special) and March 30, then adjourned at 10:29 a.m.
