Lawrence County commissioners approve warrant registers, minutes and multiple small budget transfers

At its June 16 meeting, the Lawrence County Board of Commissioners approved routine fiscal business: acceptance of the warrant registers dated June 8, 9, 11 and 12, and approval of the June 9 meeting minutes.
The board also approved several interdepartmental budget transfers. The maintenance department received a $10,000 transfer from vehicle expense into gasoline; the assessment office requested a $2,300 reallocation (including $300 from staples into office minor equipment and $2,000 from travel/training into land and building rental); court administration requested a $4,000 transfer from contingency into office minor equipment; and adult probation requested a $500 transfer (funds reallocated from contingency, association dues and a community service line item into gasoline). District Judge Jerry Cartwright’s office (Elwood City) requested a $35,940 transfer from contingency to equipment lease and rental — the clerk corrected a misprint on the agenda during the discussion to identify Judge Cartwright as the requester. The county’s information technology department requested a $5,000 transfer from its software line item to maintenance and repairs.
Commissioner Dan Kennedy moved to approve the transfers; the motion was seconded and carried on roll call with the commissioners present voting yes. The board noted the retirement board will convene later and reminded the public that the courthouse will be closed June 19 for the Juneteenth federal holiday.
No public speakers participated in either public-comment period at the meeting, and the board adjourned after approving the listed items.
