Board approves expanded special‑education service contracts for RBTs, speech and therapy supports

The Bib County Board of Education approved several contract actions to expand services for students with disabilities ahead of the 2026–27 school year.
Dr. Roser told the board that demand for registered behavior technician (RBT) services has increased; the district will continue work with existing vendors (Stepping Stone Group and Sunbelt Staffing) and expand capacity to meet one additional student need. Staff said the expansion will be funded with federal funds and estimated the total would not exceed $325,000. The motion to adopt the RBT expansion carried and the item was moved to the consent agenda.
Similarly, the Program for Exceptional Children requested authority to enter into contracts for speech services; staff emphasized an operational priority to deliver in‑person therapy and described recruitment and benefit‑level strategies intended to increase retention of speech therapists. The board approved the contracts and moved them to the consent agenda.
A third approved item authorized contracting for occupational therapy, physical therapy, interpreting services and other specialized therapeutic supports; staff said multiple vendors may be engaged and noted that revenue is collected from other counties for nonresident students served in district programs.
Next steps: All contract awards were placed on the consent agenda for final ratification. Staff will continue recruiting for in‑person therapists and report back on service-level outcomes.
