The Bib County Board of Education voted to fund the Leader in Me program for FY27 at $363,759 from the district general fund and authorized a contract with Elevate K12 to provide live virtual certified teachers at a cost not to exceed $300,000, also from general funds. The motions were approved and placed on the consent agenda for final adoption.
Dr. Smith, who presented the Elevate K12 proposal, described the vendor as a partner that provides certified teachers who deliver live, standards‑aligned instruction using the district curriculum. "Certified teachers will deliver live tier one instruction using the district's curriculum to ensure students receive high‑quality standards aligned instruction," Dr. Smith said during the presentation. She added that all Elevate teachers are certified in their assigned content areas.
Board members asked practical questions about classroom logistics. A board member asked whether a substitute remains in the classroom while a virtual teacher leads instruction; Dr. Smith confirmed that a substitute is present and the virtual teacher interacts with students via screen. A second question asked whether Elevate teachers are local; staff replied that Elevate teachers are U.S.-based but not necessarily local to the district.
Superintendent Dr. Sims and Miss Johnson supported the recommendation; the discussion concluded with a unanimous voice vote to send the items to the consent agenda.
Next steps: the items were placed on the consent agenda for final ratification during the regular meeting.
