Council Member Ben Garvey presented a plan to rehabilitate the roundabout at the 400 block into pollinator beds during the Aurora Town Board’s June 16 work session.
Garvey said the current beds are overgrown but retain landscape stone and some original plantings such as milkweed that the town would try to preserve. He showed the board the original design and cited the town’s comprehensive plan, which encourages native plantings and pollinator habitat as part of future land‑use goals.
Masterson's Madison's garden center offered to survey the roundabout and draw a design free of charge, and the owner indicated a willingness to help maintain the area. Garvey said any purchases could be split among the town’s three garden centers and that the Climate Smart Task Force had offered labor for cleanup and planting.
Board members discussed whether a short memorandum of agreement or letter of intent should document donated services and agreed to consult the town attorney. Garvey said he would put the item on the Monday meeting agenda for formal consideration.
The board did not vote on a plan on June 16; members expressed support for moving forward with further legal and logistical checks before committing funding or long-term maintenance responsibilities.
