The Charter Township of Comstock board approved the second reading of Ordinance No. 570 at a special meeting June 18, clearing a rewritten rule that permits temporary outdoor sales and services in specified zoning districts.
Treasurer Bloomfield, who presented the ordinance to the board, said the permit would be temporary and reviewed by township fire, building and zoning officials. "It is for temporary outdoor sales and services, and it's gonna be permitted in respective, zoning districts only," Bloomfield said. The ordinance allows a 30‑day initial permit that may be renewed three times at no charge (a total of 120 days), limits hours of operation to 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and caps temporary signs at 36 square feet.
Clerk Beauchamp moved to approve the second reading, and Trustee MacGyver supported the motion, the chair recorded. During a roll call vote the board recorded yes votes from Clerk Beauchamp, Supervisor Martin, Treasurer Bloomfield and Trustee MacGyver; the chair announced the motion carried. The board did not record additional discussion about implementation or an effective date at the meeting.
The ordinance sponsor said the measure is intended to cover short-term uses such as farm stands and similar vendors. The chair noted the planning commission recommended the change to the township board before the vote.
After the vote the board opened a public-comment period and later adjourned; no further action on the ordinance was recorded during the meeting.
