Todd Trost appointed to Airport Authority; parks update and spring events noted

Broken Bow — The Broken Bow City Council unanimously approved the appointment of Todd Trost to the Broken Bow Airport Authority during its March 24 meeting.
Mayor Rod Sonnichsen introduced Trost and recommended his appointment; Trost said he has an Air Force background and that his experience makes him a good candidate. "I wanted to help locally, and the Airport Authority Board was a great fit," Trost said. Councilmember Travis Kleeb moved to approve the appointment and Councilmember Paul Holland seconded; the council voted aye: Smith, Kleeb, Wamsley and Holland.
Streets and Parks Supervisor Darren Marten provided a department update, saying a mild winter allowed crews to focus on projects including tree trimming, Melham Pond cleanup, work on pickleball courts, updates to the Tomahawk women's bathroom, installation of new frisbee golf baskets, and repainting the swimming pool. He said future work will target additional pickleball court improvements and replacing concrete panels on Memorial Drive. Mayor Sonnichsen noted park use, including frisbee golf players and children at the story walk, and thanked staff.
During public comment, Stephanie Grafel of the Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce said she is organizing the Children's Easter Egg Hunt on the Square, announced that Market on the Square will begin in the first week of June, and congratulated city nominees for citizen of the year and customer service awards.
The council adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
