Yarmouth Board defers Nicotine‑Free Generation discussion to May 4 after business concerns

She asked whether the board could later demonstrate a measurable reduction in nicotine use from the regulation and recommended prioritizing education and engagement with local schools rather than immediate regulation.
Board member Laurance ("Larry") Venezia acknowledged the potential impacts and moved to table the discussion for one year; the motion was seconded by Mary Craig. After public input and concerns about taking a vote while not all board members were present, Venezia withdrew his tabling motion and instead asked that the NFG item be added to the board’s next agenda on May 4, 2026. Member Hillard Boskey said he was concerned about voting with absent members; Al Naoum suggested considering the item at a Town Meeting.
The board did not take a final regulatory vote on NFG; the matter will be formally discussed at the next board meeting.
