Shelton — The City Council voted on June 16 to adopt Resolution 1444‑0526, the city’s Six‑Year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), a planning document that lists priority projects the city may move into the state STIP to pursue grant funding.
Interim Public Works Director Brent Armstrong presented the TIP and told council the plan lists 21 projects and is intended to move local priorities into the state process for funding and implementation. "This is kind of a two‑step process. We create our six‑year TIP and then we implement those into the state transportation improvement projects, the STIP," Armstrong said.
Council members noted that several of the roadway projects those speakers had requested are already on the TIP. The presenter and city staff confirmed that Olympic Highway North is currently in design and that construction is anticipated in the summer of next year; Franklin Street and Old Olympic Highway were also identified on the project list as items the city expects to address.
The council moved, seconded, and approved Resolution 1444‑0526 by voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded in the meeting transcript. The adopted TIP positions the listed projects to seek state grant funding and to use local match resources, including transportation impact fee proceeds, when available.
