Development item continued to July 15 after applicant’s representative requests postponement

The Ukiah Planning Commission on June 17 agreed to continue a development application to the July 15 meeting after the applicant’s representative asked for more time to prepare.
Staff told the commission there were no public speaker slips for the item and that applicant representative Greg Heaps had requested a continuance to July 15 so he could prepare a fuller presentation. Greg Heaps confirmed he would represent the applicant, Craig Heaps of Yucaipa, and said he had only recently finalized representation. "I will be representing, by the way, Craig Heaps," Heaps said, and told the commission he preferred postponement so he could answer questions that remained from a prior hearing.
A commissioner said they needed to recuse themselves from any vote on the project because their business relationship with the applicant had changed since the last time the commissioner sat on the Planning Commission. The commission then moved and seconded the continuance; the motion carried and the public hearing was closed at 6:38 p.m.
The item will return to the Planning Commission on July 15. Staff asked that the applicant be advised two commissioners expect to be absent at that meeting.
