Commission approves minutes; staff flags floodplain variance and Kent Denver expansion

Commissioner Wyman moved to approve the minutes and Commissioner Leigh seconded; the motion passed unanimously. Present and voting were Commissioners Wyman, Leigh, Lay and Vice Chair Doug Kelsall; Chair Lucas and Commissioner Lahabi were absent.
In staff reports Community Development Director Paul Workman said no land use hearings are scheduled for May and that July is likelier to have applications. He described a new floodplain variance application affecting properties near Cherry Hills Country Club that proposes realigning Little Dry Creek to its historic east‑west alignment to remove portions of the floodplain from affected lots. Workman also summarized Kent Denver’s recent site-plan-level submission to expand an employee daycare building so it meets health‑department square‑footage requirements; he said the existing 1960s building is deficient and the expansion did not trigger a public hearing process.
Workman encouraged commissioners to direct non‑ex parte questions about the floodplain variance to staff because the public hearing process will enforce ex‑parte communication restrictions.
