At its Jan. 20 meeting the Arizona State Board of Education re‑elected Member Haley as president and Dr. Hagermanerman as vice president for 2026 after a nominating committee presented a slate. The vote was unanimous; in‑person board members used paper ballots while remote members used an electronic ballot process.
President Haley used her opening remarks to acknowledge the recent passings of two longtime education leaders and board members, Dr. Kathy Webbkkey and Dr. Cal Baker, reciting their decades of service to Arizona public education, leadership roles in districts and higher education, and commitments to teacher development. Board members offered brief remembrances and the board announced it will send an award to Dr. Webbkkey’s family.
No formal action beyond the leadership election occurred on these items; the board moved on to routine agenda business.
