Beaufort County Board authorizes Bluffton easement, ratifies personnel and awards autism program contract

The board authorized the superintendent to finalize the temporary easement associated with Pritchard Street and the Town of Bluffton. Boatwright moved the action; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote, though one board member announced a nay on the record.
The board also approved the superintendent’s personnel ratification report covering July 1–31, 2025. Boatwright moved that the board accept the employment recommendations listed on the report; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
Finally, the board authorized the superintendent to issue an award and execute a contract for the district’s therapeutic day program for students with autism to Specialized Education of Georgia Incorporated under RFP number 25-026, contingent on the expiration of the protest period. Boatwright moved the award and the board approved the motion by voice vote.
All three items were raised in executive session under the statutes cited by the board for legal advice, property negotiations and personnel matters and then acted on in open session. The board’s actions were procedural approvals; the motions as recorded authorize district staff to finalize agreements and proceed with contract execution after standard post-award steps are complete.
Next steps: district staff will complete the easement paperwork with the Town of Bluffton, proceed through any remaining protest period and execute the therapeutic-day contract as authorized, and implement the personnel changes reflected in the ratification report.
