East Windsor Regional School District honors 16 retirees in June board meeting

The East Windsor Regional School District Board of Education spent a large portion of its June 15 meeting recognizing 16 district retirees whose combined service the superintendent said totaled roughly 368 years.
Superintendent Mr. Daniels opened the recognition ceremony, calling retirement “the culmination of countless days spent teaching, supporting, mentoring, problem solving, and caring for others.” Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Miss Felicetta introduced building principals and department supervisors who called retirees forward.
Speakers singled out a range of roles: Helen Samino was honored for decades as the district’s graphic technician; Jack Wilson for more than 30 years as an HVAC technician and ductwork fabricator; Barbara Beckett for 23 years as a second‑grade teacher at Ethel McNite; Maida Reyes Cotay for service as a bilingual teacher; and Susie B. Cooper for 21 years of classroom work and professional development. High‑school retirees recognized included Doris Krellis, Wilson Hernandez, Maria Zagar/Zagaro, Denise Stoy and Randy Church, among others.
The ceremony included short tributes from building principals and program directors describing signature projects and contributions — from hands‑on physics experiments in the high school to districtwide curriculum and student support roles — and concluded with a group photo with the board president and superintendent.
Board members invited families and guests to a brief recess with refreshments before continuing other business.
The meeting noted four retirees who were not present and said the district will acknowledge them separately: custodian Carl Barnwwell; teacher Jennifer Nelson; physical therapist Pam Worami; and bus driver Emanuel Babin.
