Ordinance and Licensing Committee approves broad set of new and renewal licenses

The Waukesha City Ordinance and Licensing Committee approved a broad slate of new and renewing business licenses at its June 9 meeting, voting unanimously to grant the requests after motions from committee members.

Ald. Helvinslaven moved to approve an initial batch of licenses that included retail and on-premises alcohol permits for outlets such as 3 J Liquor, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chili's Grill and Bar, Downtown BP, several Kwik Trip locations and others; the motion was seconded by Ald. Manion and passed by voice vote. The committee later approved a separate contingent application for Bottle Stop (Class A beer and liquor) "contingent upon obtaining a certificate of occupancy," also by unanimous voice vote.

The committee also considered a lengthy list of renewal applications — encompassing liquor and beer licenses, tobacco and vape authorizations, amusement permits and coin-operated devices — which Ald. Helvinslaven read into the record and moved to approve. Committee members had no substantive objections and the renewals passed unanimously.

The chair noted these businesses were largely present because each had failed a single compliance check in the prior year and urged them to avoid repeat violations. The meeting included both voice votes and a roll call that confirmed the unanimous approvals.

The committee moved on to remaining agenda items after completing the licensing business.
