The Deer Park City Council approved budget and procurement steps for a planned renovation of the Court Theater building on June 16.
An ordinance amending the FY25‑26 Capital Improvements Fund budget was approved to appropriate funds for architectural and design services to renovate the Court Theater building. Later in the meeting, council approved entering into an agreement with Studio Red for design services related to that renovation.
Councilman Ripley moved to approve the budget amendment and Councilman Lee seconded; the motions for both the appropriation and the Studio Red agreement were carried as announced by Mayor Jerry Mouton.
Why it matters: The budget amendment and the Studio Red design agreement represent the start of a capital project to renovate a city facility used for recreation and cultural programming; staff will follow the city's standard capital project and design procurement processes.
Follow up: Staff will coordinate with Studio Red on design scope, schedule and deliverables and will return to council with contract execution documents and project timelines as appropriate.
