The Fort Pierce Utilities Authority on Dec. 2 approved accepting a 10-foot utility easement for the Blue Sky Sunrise Village development, subject to the developer closing on the property.
Staff explained the easement is a small component of a larger developer package that the city commission approved the night before. The easement acceptance is contingent on property closing; staff said the utility easement will be held in escrow until that closing occurs.
Board members asked for project details. Staff said the development is a 106-unit affordable-housing project located in the 3000 block of Okeechobee Road and that closing and financing were expected in the next month. One board member said they typically prefer the property to be owned before granting easements; staff and counsel explained the contingency and escrow arrangement were designed to keep the project timeline moving while protecting the authority.
The resolution passed on a roll-call vote.
