Lexington council approves $2.07M in bills, accepts January financial report; enters executive session on contracts

Mayor John Fagot called the Lexington City Council to order at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 24 and the Council approved the minutes from its Feb. 10 meeting by a 5-0 roll call.
The council then considered Claims and Bills totaling $2,071,002.25. Council member Jared Jacob moved to approve the list and authorize funding allocation; Council member John Salem seconded. The motion passed on a 5-0 roll call (Jared Jacob; John Salem; Dora Vivas; Jeremy Roberts; Mayor John Fagot). The accounts-payable listing included several large items, among them payroll wages of $187,170.66, a Nebraska Public Power District O & M charge of $142,555.02, and a Power Purchase entry of $1,169,280.71. The agenda record shows the total claims amount as $2,071,002.25.
Later in the meeting Council member Dora Vivas moved, and Jared Jacob seconded, to accept the City of Lexington financial report for January 2026 "as presented." That motion also passed on a unanimous roll call.
The council voted to go into executive session at 5:32 p.m. to discuss contractual negotiations. The motion was made by Council member John Salem and seconded by Council member Dora Vivas; roll call recorded five ayes. The council returned to open session at 6:07 p.m. after a motion by Council member Jeremy Roberts, seconded by Jared Jacob, which carried on roll call.
There were no public comments recorded during the public comment period. With no further business, Mayor Fagot declared the meeting adjourned.
Next steps: the minutes, claims and financial report were approved for the record; the executive session was limited to "contractual negotiations" and no formal action from it is recorded in the meeting minutes.
