Crawford council approves permits, appointments and routine expenditures; Mayor granted bus use for wedding

The Crawford City Council on Sept. 24 approved a package of routine permits, appointments and expenditures, including allowing Mayor Shane Norman to use the city transportation bus for his Sept. 28 wedding and appointing two members to the Golf Board.
Council President April Grant made the motion to let Mayor Norman use the transportation bus for his wedding; the motion, seconded by Council Member Brent Gebbie, passed unanimously (AYE: Grant, Gebbie, Storbeck, Dean). The council also approved a special designated liquor permit for an event at the former Napa building (135 Main St.) for Oct. 12–13 and granted a street-closure request from Northwest Auto Body for an Oct. 12 car show (the mover abstained on the street-closure vote).
The council moved to put the Golf Clubhouse manager, Council President April Grant and Mayor Shane Norman on the city liquor license. Council approved soliciting bids for electrical and plumbing services for the medical clinic, police station and maintenance shop and authorized informal real estate estimates. Council Member Brent Gebbie volunteered to chair a newly formed pool committee.
The council accepted a resignation from Dan Brien (motion by Gebbie; one nay from Council Member Christopher Dean), and approved a cemetery deed for Dan Gray. Mayor Norman recommended Jeremy Kennedy and Julie Hasz for the Golf Board; Council Member Christopher Dean moved to approve both appointments, and the motion carried (AYE: Dean, Grant, Gebbie, Storbeck).
The meeting packet included a detailed payroll and vendor claims list totaling $94,519.18; Council approved bills, claims, requisitions and transfers pending the mayor's signature. The council entered an executive session on personnel at 8:36 p.m. and reconvened at 9:26 p.m.
Why this matters: The votes keep regular municipal services and event permitting on schedule and place two local residents on the Golf Board ahead of the fall season. Listed charges and the approved procurement steps also set the city up to solicit contractors for maintenance and capital work.
