The letter said KRT committed to completing the remaining work within the next 90 days and warned that denying the extension could leave "as much as a quarter of the town" unvisited and require the town to hire another contractor at additional expense.
Board members who supported the extension emphasized avoiding disruption to the MS-1 filing schedule and the logistical difficulty of finding replacement contractors. One member said KRT had performed field work at their house that day and urged allowing more time for the company to finish.
Opponents pressed on quality and notice. A board member said the town had not been given advance warning that KRT would miss the earlier deadline and questioned the confidence that another 90 days would be sufficient. The board also discussed errors observed in transferred data between vendor systems.
The motion to extend the contract to Sept. 1 was seconded by Paul and passed, 3-1. The board stipulated it expected no further extensions and said it would hold KRT to the contract's scope and timeline.
The board did not adopt new contract language at the meeting; members said any further concerns about assessor performance or bidding would be addressed when the town next goes to market for revaluation services.
Next steps: KRT will be expected to complete field visits and data updates by the new Sept. 1 deadline so the town can meet MS-1 reporting obligations. The board asked staff to monitor deliverables and report back if additional issues arise.
