Cheatham County approves multi-fund budget amendments, transfers $165,000 for school vans

Cheatham County commissioners approved a set of budget amendments and transfers on Feb. 28 that affect multiple county funds, including a $165,000 transfer to the Education Capital Projects fund to purchase four district vans.
Director of Accounts Sandrine Batts presented the items recommended by the Budget Committee. The package included transfers to upgrade ambulance communication cradle points ($15,501.10), purchase three IV pumps ($5,446.95), purchase blinds for Veterans’ Services Office ($865.20) and a $165,000 transfer from the General Purpose School fund balance to the Education Capital Projects fund to buy four district vans. Also recorded were smaller transfers covering library donations and fees, reimbursement to the highway fund for electric usage, and adjustments to cover overtime, postal charges and solid-waste communications lines.
The body approved the full set of amendments by roll-call vote, 11–0, with Commissioner Randy Liles absent. The School Board’s contingent approval of the $165,000 transfer was noted in the record as contingent on Education Committee approval.
Other funding items recorded in the minutes included a $2,750 contribution to the sheriff for an undercover investigation into underage beer sales and $2,196.39 from a Tennessee Highway Safety Office grant to cover overtime pay for roadblocks. The minutes list funding sources for each amendment where specified.
