Cheatham County names T.W. Frierson construction manager for jail project and approves $69,750 demolition contract

Cheatham County commissioners on Feb. 28 approved T.W. Frierson as construction manager for the county jail project and authorized a $69,750 contract with Environmental Abatement Inc. to demolish the Annex Building and Ashland City Hall.
The body voted 11–0, with Commissioner Randy Liles absent, to accept the Jail Committee’s recommendation and hire T.W. Frierson as construction manager. The motion to approve the construction manager was made by Commissioner Ed Greer and seconded by Commissioner Tim Williamson.
The demolition contract was presented and approved later in the meeting. The resolution authorizing Environmental Abatement Inc. to perform the demo and removal of the Annex Building and Ashland City Hall passed on a roll-call vote of 11–0 with one absence. County officials recorded the contract amount at $69,750.00.
Commissioners also approved related capital adjustments during the meeting: a $17,963.64 allocation to finish extras at the highway garage and $3,905.28 for a split HVAC unit in the EMS medical room. Both capital items were approved by roll-call votes of 11–0 (one member absent).
County Mayor Kerry McCarver announced other project-level staffing and appointments earlier in the session, including the mayor’s appointment of Grady Perry to the PVUD Board with a term beginning March 1, 2022.
No public speakers objected to the construction-manager or demolition votes in the recorded proceedings. The commission’s formal records list the motions, movers and seconders and show unanimous roll-call support among present members; the meeting adjourned at 6:43 P.M.
