Residents press commissioners on driveway damage, speed limits and loud music during public forum; commission reduces two road speed limits

During the public forum at the start of the Cheatham County legislative session, several residents raised local quality-of-life concerns and requests for action.
Resident Jim Elmi told the commission that after a County Highway Commission excavation at 1120 Lakeside Drive his property had been left with a hole that prevents access when it rains and asked that the county restore his driveway. Resident James Moore asked the commission to lower the speed limit on Friendship Acres Drive to 30 miles per hour. Resident Marshall Sanford described amplified-music problems in his Aberdeen Subdivision neighborhood and asked that the sheriff be given authority to stop loud music.
Later in the meeting, commissioners voted by voice to reduce the speed limit on Charlie Reed Road from 45 to 25 mph and to lower the speed limit on Friendship Acres Drive from 40 to 30 mph. The minutes record the voice-vote approval; there is no roll-call tally recorded in the minutes for that motion.
Misty Keenan, Director of Commerce, also used public forum time to publicize a Discover Cheatham guide and an April 28 luncheon; she announced her resignation and thanked the commission. The minutes record the public forum and the action on speed limits in the consent/road-and-bridge sections.
