Cheatham County approves jail construction manager and related contracts, including environmental abatement

Cheatham County commissioners voted April 18 to greenlight key contracts tied to the county’s jail expansion and other county services.
County Mayor Kerry McCarver presented a package of administrative items that commissioners approved by roll-call votes. The commission voted to terminate the county’s lease with Around The Clock Bonding LLC and approved the county’s execution of contracts including an Ironshore Indemnity Inc. agreement and arrangements for iWorQ payment processing for Building and Codes and Applied Digital Solutions Inc.; the iWorQ and Applied Digital Solutions agreements were approved “pending attorney review.”
On the jail project, the commission approved retaining T.W. Frierson as construction manager and separately approved a contract with Environmental Abatement, Inc. to perform specified demolition and abatement work. The motions passed on roll-call votes; recorded tallies are in the meeting record.
The county’s action package also included a routine agreement with the Tennessee Department of Health to support the local health department. The Department of Health agreement (which references state statutory authority for local health agreements) was approved as presented.
Commissioners did not put competing firms on the record and made no further conditions beyond the attorney reviews noted in meetings materials. The approved contracts will proceed to execution and, where required by contract text, will be implemented by the mayor’s office and relevant county departments. Several agreements list contingencies (for example, iWorQ and Applied Digital Solutions noted in the record as pending legal review) and will not be finalized until those reviews are complete.
