Maple Valley city manager reports DEI work, clubhouse re-bid, salmon return and staffing updates

City Manager Laura Philpot told the council on Jan. 13 that staff will hold a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion retreat for council members and DEI training for staff, and that the lodge will be closed the following afternoon for electrical work.
Philpot said the Community Clubhouse project will be re-bid with a new opening date of Feb. 7 and reported the Arboretum irrigation project has been completed. She also said Parks & Recreation will host a summer job fair on Feb. 24.

Philpot noted restoration work on a creek at 220th, where coho salmon have returned to spawn and community members have been frequent visitors to view the fish. She announced in-house promotions of Erin Stanley to Finance/HR Analyst and Corinna Blohm to Finance Coordinator.
