Eagle Grove council approves street-improvement supplement with S.E.H., backs $250,000 commercial incentive for Ward 1

The Eagle Grove City Council on April 20 approved a supplement agreement with Short Elliott Hendrickson (S.E.H.) for the 2026 Street Improvement Project and approved a commercial construction incentive application tied to the Northeast (Ward 1) Neighborhood Revitalization Project.

Becky Schwab of S.E.H. provided the update on the street program; following her presentation the council voted to adopt Resolution 2026-20, authorizing a supplement agreement with S.E.H. Council Member Vandewater moved the resolution and Council Member Weland seconded; roll call was unanimous.

At a public hearing the council also considered an Economic Development Agreement for the Eagle Grove Urban Renewal Area and a Commercial Construction Incentive Application intended to support redevelopment in Northeast (Ward 1). Council Member Weland moved and Pamperin seconded adoption of Resolution 2026-21 to approve the commercial incentive application; the vote was unanimous. The council stated the incentive is related to the broader Ward 1 revitalization effort and identified the Economic Development Agreement as being for an amount not to exceed $250,000.

Council members tabled Resolution 2026-22, a proposed development agreement, and took no action on Resolution 2026-23, an amendment to a development agreement with First Bank. City Administrator Davis also briefed the council on other capital projects, spring cleanup dates (April 29–May 2, hazardous-materials collection on May 1), the Eagle Grove Aquatic Center and an upcoming city surplus auction.

The measures approved on April 20 advance the city’s street work and neighborhood revitalization planning; the council did not take final action on the separate development agreement under consideration.
