During the Feb. 10 Eagle Grove City Council meeting WCED Director Aaron Budgweg addressed the council during the public forum, providing an overview of the Heart of Iowa Trust Fund and encouraging qualifying residents to apply; he said roughly $90,000 remains available to assist homeowners with repairs. Budgweg also discussed Midas Transit services and noted that the transit provider is looking for drivers.
The council approved the consent agenda, which included the Jan. 19 minutes and claims, on a motion by Axtell seconded by Pamperin (roll call: all ayes among members present). Mayor Boyd then conducted the Oath of Office for new Eagle Grove Police Officer David Jones.
Mack Sisson and Jeff Grandgeorge presented the Eagle Grove Fire Department annual report; Councilor Weland moved and Axtell seconded to place the report on file, and the motion passed on a roll-call vote of all ayes. Sergeant B. Hennigar presented the Eagle Grove Police Department annual report; the council likewise voted to place it on file. Nuisance Officer Matthew Valentine provided an update on the nuisance abatement process.
On other business the council voted to table the first reading of Ordinance 2026-01, which would establish municipal solid-waste collections and rates; the motion to table was approved on a roll-call vote. Councilor Vandewater moved and Spangler seconded to accept a quote to restore all three aquatic center slides, contingent on the contractor honoring current pricing for a fall project; that motion passed.
The meeting concluded with department reports and the council's adjournment at 6:44 p.m.
