Pacific council approves consent agenda, introduces two new city employees and forwards fiber franchise to Sept. 22
Summary
At its Sept. 8 meeting the Pacific City Council approved the consent agenda (claims, payroll, minutes, three administrative resolutions and a Waterworth contract), introduced new Building Inspector and Public Works Laborer hires, and forwarded the first reading of a fiber franchise ordinance to Sept. 22 for final reading.
The Pacific City Council unanimously approved its consent agenda on Sept. 8, including claims vouchers #61258–#61286 (Aug. 26–Sept. 8), payroll vouchers for Aug. 6–20 and associated payroll and benefits checks, the Aug. 25 regular and workshop minutes, and three administrative resolutions: Resolution 2025-1001 (revisions to the cash receipts policy and internal controls), Resolution 2025-1002 (petty cash for Parks & Recreation) and Resolution 2025-1003 (a Waterworth contract). Council Member Putnam moved to approve the consent agenda and Council Member Helms seconded; a roll call vote recorded seven ayes and no nays.
Mayor Kave introduced two new city employees at the meeting: Arlo Doepker, hired as Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer; and Charles Scheufler, hired as a Public Works Laborer. Council Member Helms also reported attending the Aug. 28 concert in the park, noted low attendance, and asked City Clerk Laurie Cassell to add links to the resolutions that appear in the consent agenda.
Under first readings, Council considered Ordinance 2111, a telecommunications franchise for EZEE Fiber Texas, LLC; by council consensus the ordinance was forwarded to the Sept. 22 meeting for final reading. Staff and board updates noted upcoming meetings for the Sound Cities Association (Sept. 17), South County Area Transportation Board (Sept. 16) and the Valley Regional Fire Authority (Sept. 9). The Public Works Committee reported on West Valley Highway improvements, City Hall fencing access changes and looking into using goats to maintain storm ponds. The meeting was adjourned at 6:28 p.m.
