Board approves staffing, calendar and several intergovernmental agreements in routine business
Summary

The Ajo Unified District board took routine business actions, approving personnel, program and intergovernmental items during its meeting.
Personnel and program approvals included the employment of Ivy Flores as a substitute teacher (recommended after interview and background check), approval of extra-base positions funded by Title I, Title II, IDEA Basic Grant and Title IV resources (including AP teacher planning and parent engagement coordinator roles), and authorization for summer school staffing and additional classified staff hours for elementary reading instruction in June. Each item was moved, seconded and approved by a recorded vote of 3–0.
The board also approved the 2026–2027 academic calendar and revised 2026 board meeting times as presented by administration.
Intergovernmental agreements approved included renewal of the IGA with the Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind (ASDB) to provide assessments, program planning, staff development and direct/itinerant services tied to student IEPs; the administration reported 29 members this year and a $550 membership fee. The board renewed an agreement with Bella Vista Unified School District for online curriculum/textbook resources and approved an agreement with the Arizona Department of Economic Security to facilitate student summer jobs and related opportunities.
A board resolution (document attached to the meeting materials) was also approved by unanimous vote. All motions reported carried 3–0.
