The Ajo Unified District (4409) recognized several students as superintendent’s students of the month during the meeting’s opening presentations. Teachers and advisors introduced and praised the winners for academic focus, character and leadership.
An introductory student speech highlighted persistence and effort before Mr. Romo, the district’s architectural drafting teacher, introduced the freshman honoree, Riley Coulson. Mr. Romo described Riley as “quiet, serious…very consistent,” saying in part, “He stays focused and uses his time well and completes his work responsibly,” and congratulated him on being selected as the superintendent’s freshman student of the month.
Speakers also introduced Autumn Hinber as the sophomore superintendent student of the month, praising her academic curiosity, character and classroom leadership. Later, Mr. Dia Seenor, the senior class advisor, presented a junior-class winner (referred to in the transcript as Ja/Jael/J), describing the student’s leadership, strong work habits and plans for postsecondary enrollment.
Presenters thanked administrators, board members, teachers, staff and families and asked the assembled audience to congratulate the students. The recognitions were followed by applause and photos. The meeting then proceeded to routine business items.
