Ajo Unified District staff said the administration and the district's financial consultant plan to recommend adding $1,000 to the Classroom Site Fund (CSF) allotment for each certified classroom teacher as a base-salary supplement, to be funded from the CSF reserve rather than the district's primary maintenance budget.
The presenter told the governing board the district has a strong CSF reserve (reported as more than $1 million) and that a consultant will provide a revised spreadsheet and an in-depth presentation at the board's Wednesday meeting. The change is being shown as an increase to the total CSF classroom allocation, not to the district's M&O or other operating lines.
A board member asked whether non-certified (classified) employees would receive any portion of the proposed increase; staff replied the current proposal is limited to certified teachers and that classified staff considerations will be addressed separately in a later step. The presenter said an updated figure will be posted and explained at the next meeting before any formal action is taken.
The item was presented as study-session information; the board did not vote on the CSF change at this meeting. The administration asked members to reserve final judgment until staff posts the consultant's revised numbers and supporting materials for the Wednesday session.
