Resident urges Temple City to move routine leaf blowing from 6 a.m. to after 7 a.m.

Becky Harrison, a Temple City resident who lives adjacent to a mixed-use area, asked council on Feb. 3 to shift routine city leaf blowing that begins about 6:00 a.m. in nearby parking lots to a later start time so it does not wake nearby residents.
"Leaf blowers are loud and at 6:00 a.m. they wake people up," Harrison said, noting that maintenance in public parking lots near residences has been occurring at about 6:11 a.m. on recent Tuesdays. She said she reviewed city code and understands public-property maintenance may be exempt from some noise rules but asked the city to consider a later start time — "ideally after 7 a.m. in mixed use areas."
City staff and council responded that they would work with staff to adjust the schedule. Councilor and staff comments indicated they would discuss timing with crews and follow up with Harrison; one council member said they would "talk to staff tomorrow." Brian Cook (city manager) was identified as a point of contact for follow-up.
No formal policy change or ordinance was adopted at the meeting; councilors directed staff to explore schedule adjustments and follow up with the resident.
