Temple City Library announces winners of LA County bookmark contest; more than 186 entries

Temple City Library announced local winners of the Los Angeles County Library’s 46th annual bookmark contest during the Dec. 16 council meeting.
"In September 2025, students from kindergarten through 12th grade were invited to participate in LA County Library’s 46th annual bookmark contest," Ria Elias, Temple City Library’s children’s librarian, told the council. She said the library received more than 186 entries and local winners will be forwarded to the county board of supervisors’ office for final selection in spring 2026.
Council members and library staff presented certificates to winners across categories: K–2 (Lucy Deng, first place), 3–5 (Melody Wong, first place), 6–8 (Sophie Zhao, first place), and 9–12 (Melanie Zang, first place) with several honorable mentions. The library will display the bookmarks in the children’s area and plans two upcoming programs in January — a play-and-explore session for ages 0–5 on Jan. 14 and a family game afternoon on Jan. 17.
What’s next: The county board of supervisors will select up to 20 countywide winners in spring 2026 for printing and distribution; the Temple City Library will continue to display local winners and run family programs in January.
