Temple City reports Las Tunis project nearly complete and $5.5 million in recent roadwork

City Manager Brian updated the council on local capital projects on Dec. 16, saying the Las Tunis improvement project is essentially complete and that the city completed substantial road work this year.
"The entire improvement, beautification and infrastructure improvement project is 99% complete at this point in time," Brian said. He noted blade signs and awning applications are still being processed for business storefronts along Las Tunis and highlighted one local example already up.
On streets, Brian said staff and contractors completed the equivalent of about 16 miles of arterial and residential street work at a total cost of about $5.5 million. He described the use of a product called AAM in a test case and said field observations after heavy rains showed the material performed well.
Brian thanked Public Works staff and contractors by name for their work and said the city will present an updated pavement management plan for council review in January.
What's next: The city will continue to process blade sign and awning permits for Las Tunis and will bring the pavement management update to the council at an upcoming meeting.
