Rome board approves 2026–27 maintenance contracts, accepts $41,527.95 scholarship transfer

The board then voted to accept a scholarship fund transfer of $41,527.95 from NBT Wealth Management after the custodian reported the fund balance had fallen below a $100,000 custodial threshold. The board authorized administration and distribution of the funds in accordance with the scholarships established criteria. When a board member asked whether the funds are held separately as a trust, Dr. Gonzalez explained that such funds are tracked in a custodial maintenance account and monitored on district records; depending on future deposits and interest, the custodial balance may persist for several years.
The board also approved a resolution to participate in cooperative bidding with neighboring districts for school commodities and lunch items, appointing the assistant superintendent for business to a districtwide committee to draft specifications, advertise, open and tabulate bids and report recommendations to the board. The cooperative approach was cited as authorized by the municipal law provision noted in the agenda.
All three items were presented as action items, moved, seconded and recorded as carried.
