The South Thomaston Select Board addressed several routine administrative items during the meeting.
Cleaning contract: Members raised concerns about work by the contracted cleaner, Brenda Collerwood, saying bathrooms and floors were not consistently cleaned and that trash had been left. The board noted the service is a contracted position, suggested the administrative assistant should handle performance concerns, and discussed options including telling the contractor to improve performance or putting the contract out to bid; one board member volunteered to do the cleaning temporarily.
Back room and records storage: Members discussed preserving storage space for town records and the town clerk, urging a formal agenda discussion to decide future uses before any reassignment of the area. Staff were asked to place the item on a future agenda for planning.
Donations and reports: The board accepted a $35 donation from Maline French for the fire department and reviewed the fire-department year-end report and awards (recognitions included Kevin Pollson, Nick Martin and Angelo Longo and milestone service years for David Elwell, Jeff Hargula and Thomas Moore).
Meetings: The board confirmed future meeting dates, noting Feb. 10 and Feb. 25 as scheduled dates.
