Redevelopment Authority approves Taber Owens change orders, raises contract to $9.63 million

At a regular meeting, the Redevelopment Authority approved two contract change orders for Taber Owens Construction Group that staff said raise the contract price to $9,634,113.

Tom, a staff member, told the board that change order three was "in the amount of $60,770" for south-slope modifications, parking undercut and rock excavation, and that change order four "was in the amount of $151,930" for concrete, pool equipment and flooring work. "That brings the total contract price to 9,634,113," Tom said; a board member asked him to repeat the figure and he did so.

Staff also presented a pay application identified as 2404-2B and several vendor claims, and the engineering department and Jeff Justice recommended payment. Tom said that after the Taber Owens payment the project will have paid about $9.1 million, will have roughly $480,000 left in retainage and about $43,000 remaining on the total contract, and that there are funds in the construction account to cover the payment. The transcript’s readback of the 2404-2B dollar amount was unclear when read aloud.

A member moved to approve the contract change orders and the pay claims; Tara Ecman seconded. The motion carried by voice vote. Present at roll call were Kevin Manley, Tara Ecman, Renee Kendrick, Kirsten Kenise and the chair of the Redevelopment Authority; Roger Seager was recorded as absent.

The board did not amend the change orders on the floor. Staff will process the pay application and arrange signatures to finalize the contract paperwork.
