Parks director reports steady spring registrations, summer staffing commitments and boat slip rentals

Ray Bull, Marlborough’s Parks and Recreation Director, told the commission March 9 that spring program registration began March 1 and the department is offering 27 youth and adult programs this spring.
Bull said registrations have been coming in steadily. He reported that five lifeguards and nine camp counselors have committed to return for the summer season and that the department is actively recruiting for a park supervisor and a park maintainer. Bull also said 46 kayak and canoe slips are rented, leaving 24 available to the community.
Bull noted the kids fishing derby is scheduled for Saturday, May 2 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and several residents rented the pavilion for summer events. Commissioners discussed recent complaints sent to the town manager and the Board of Selectmen concerning maintenance of town ball fields; a proposal from Matt Weeks regarding Farley and Blackledge Fields was listed in correspondence.
