Selectman Joe Asklar reported at the March 3 meeting that a Marlborough fire rescue vehicle was damaged during a recent response on Flood Road. A police report has been filed and, as town policy requires, personnel involved received physical checks and drug and alcohol testing. Town Manager David Porter said he is working with the insurance company to arrange repairs.
Mr. Asklar also noted the town recently responded to a major house fire with no injuries. The board received the report; no votes or further emergency actions were taken at the meeting.
In related town manager updates, Mr. Porter told the board a second amendment to the communications tower agreement is forthcoming. He said landscaping and restoration work for the So Buckboard culvert is scheduled for May–June, while Quinn Road culvert repair requires easements from a homeowner and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and is planned for October–November. He also noted kayak slip rental applications are being accepted, spring program registration is open, and summer camp registration will open April 1, 2026.
On personnel, Mr. Porter reported Officer Brad Waite will begin next week as a new constable. The town continues to recruit for an Animal Control Officer and is accepting applications for two open Public Works positions. The board tabled MESBC appointments to the March 17 meeting to allow consideration of additional applicants.
The meeting closed with routine finance and correspondence items and adjournment at 8:44 p.m.
