The Stone Mountain City Council approved a resolution establishing a separate bank account for funds derived from forfeited or confiscated assets and designated signatories and accounting procedures to ensure compliance and auditability.
Finance staff said separating these funds makes audit and reporting simpler and conforms to Department of Justice rules. Council members asked that the resolution include an additional signatory in the event the city manager is unavailable and directed that the mayor be added as a signatory. The council adopted the resolution unanimously and directed staff to follow financial-procedure and audit requirements for the new account.
A council member asked whether forfeiture funds would be spent commingled with other funds; staff confirmed the account will be kept separate and subject to audit procedures.
