Orrville council passes series of routine and administrative measures, approves emergency contracts
Summary
At its April 6 meeting the council approved administrative and routine measures including participation in ODOT's salt contract, an agreement with Wayne County Emergency Management, a forfeiture agreement with the county prosecutor, and the annual codification ordinance, along with the other actions taken that night.
Beyond rezoning, sidewalks, energy PPAs and the Top Hat tax abatement, the Orrville City Council adopted several additional measures on April 6:
• Resolution 11-26: Authorized the Safety-Service Director to continue using Wayne County Emergency Management Agency services for disaster response, complying with Ohio Revised Code requirements.
• Resolution 12-26: Authorized participation in ODOT's 2026 road salt contract; council requested approximately 1,200 tons at a per-ton price reported as just under $60.
• Resolution 13-26: Authorized the Safety-Service Director to enter into a forfeiture agreement with the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office to seek the city's share of seized assets where courts order forfeiture.
• Ordinance C-26: Annual codification ordinance to incorporate passed ordinances and update the codified ordinances consistent with changes in the Ohio Revised Code (noted traffic code changes).
All listed items were presented, the council suspended the normal three-reading rule where noted, and each measure was adopted by vote. The meeting ended with scheduling and community announcements and adjourned at 8:36 p.m.
