Council appoints Jason Lax to vacant Ward 2 seat; minutes approved

The Orrville City Council appointed Jason Lax to the vacant Ward 2 seat during its Jan. 5 meeting after a motion from Council member Beverly Squirrell and a second from Council member Rees Davies; the council recorded "all ayes" and Lax was sworn in at the meeting. Council President Paul Vance called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
Council member Carr moved to approve the council minutes from Dec. 15; Jason Lax seconded the motion and the council again voted "all ayes" to approve the minutes. No roll-call totals beyond the meeting record of unanimous approval were stated at the meeting.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn from Council member Rees Davies, seconded by Carr; the council voted "all ayes" and adjourned at 7:43 p.m. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026.
The appointment fills the Ward 2 vacancy immediately; no additional debate or conditions were recorded on the floor. The council also announced that new committee assignments have been posted, but provided no further changes during the session.
