The Sahuarita Unified School District governing board voted to accept the district’s fiscal year 2024–25 audit after a presentation from district staff and auditors.
Dr. Rowland introduced the annual materials required by state and federal rules — the annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR), the single audit, and the USFR — and recommended board acceptance. The district’s finance team emphasized the report is a comprehensive look at budgeting, federal awards and compliance testing across many categories.
Lizette, speaking for the business office, told the board: “we had no major findings for fiscal 24-25,” while noting several minor procedural issues identified by auditors. Those matters included a public-notice posting that missed the 10-day requirement by one day, a small number of coding corrections, isolated instances where fundraiser proceeds were not deposited within the five-business-day requirement, attendance-record accuracy concerns and recommendations to strengthen IT separation of duties.
Board members praised the finance team for detailed recordkeeping and oversight and said the findings were minor. The board voted to accept the audit in a roll-call vote with all members voting in favor.
The acceptance of the audit formally concludes the annual financial review process and requires the district to track and remediate the procedural items the auditors flagged. District staff said they have already corrected some issues and are implementing recommended improvements, including additional security and separation-of-duties measures in financial systems.
