Safford delays some major projects — library annex, fieldhouse and fire station timelines moved

"We've gotten recent information that there is an interested party," Bingham said, adding the city could revisit the timing if a partner firmizes a plan.
For the fire station, staff moved approximately $4 million of construction costs into 2028 to allow for site selection and architectural renderings that will inform final borrowing amounts. On landfill planning, Public Works Director Lance Henry said a post‑closure and compaction study now pushes the expected fill horizon out to roughly 2047 rather than 2044, while recommending planning for redundancy (a second scale) and equipment protection measures.
