Board approves additional Structured Teaching Classroom teacher to address special-education growth

The Saddle Mountain Unified School District governing board voted June 10 to add a Structured Teaching Classroom (STC) teacher at Winterwell in response to growing special-education enrollment.
Superintendent staff told the board the position will be funded using grant dollars so it will not increase costs to the district’s M (maintenance and operations) budget. The board approved posting and hiring for the position; staff will post the vacancy and begin recruitment once the board’s approval is in the record.
Board members asked whether the hire would be a certified special-education teacher; staff confirmed they will recruit a certified special-education teacher for the classroom.
The motion to approve the additional STC teacher passed on a voice vote.
