Several council members favored giving local artists priority and involving the public in a finalists’ selection process. Councilman (comment) said, “They're the ones who use the library. I'd really like to see a lot of public input on this,” and the council asked staff (Miss Silva) to bring back a resolution that would reallocate the funds and outline a public engagement plan.
Next steps: staff will prepare a resolution to transfer the funding, solicit artists (local, statewide or broader depending on council direction), and provide finalists or designs for council review and public input as part of the selection process.
