Sahuarita board approves ICCU sponsorship to replace stadium and gym scoreboards

The Sahuarita Unified School District governing board voted Jan. 14 to approve a sponsorship agreement with Idaho Central Credit Union that will fund replacement of dated scoreboards and display equipment at district high‑school stadiums, gyms, baseball and softball fields.
Superintendent Dr. Manuel Valenuela described the sponsorship as a significant private investment that will provide “graphic‑quality” electronic scoreboards and improve game‑day facilities. Board members asked whether the old boards would be removed and redeployed; administration said staff will first consider relocation to middle schools if feasible without excessive cost and otherwise list older units as surplus or for auction.
The district said naming recognition already attached to existing stadium signage (for example, Earl G. Kelly Stadium) will be preserved; ICCU branding will appear as part of the new equipment’s marketing elements. The contract has been vetted by district legal services, administration said, and the board approved the agreement by voice vote.
